Jagannath University (JnU), Bangladesh, and Oxford College of Education Limited (OCE), UK, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in education, online English-language learning, training and skills development, and the European Doctorate Programme.
The MoU signing ceremony was held on Sunday, 27 September 2026, at the Office of the Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University, in the presence of Professor Dr. Md. Rais Uddin, Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University.
The agreement aims to create expanded opportunities for the university's teachers and students to develop academic, professional and practical skills, improve English-language proficiency, enhance employability, and access flexible online learning and professional development opportunities.
On behalf of Jagannath University, Professor Dr. Sheikh Md. Gias Uddin, Registrar, and on behalf of Oxford College of Education Limited, Mr Jashim Uddin, Director and CEO, signed the Memorandum of Understanding.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Professor Dr. Nasir Ahmad, Director (External Activities), Jagannath University; Professor Dr. Md. Omar Faruk, Provost, Student Hall-1; Dr. Ashraf Abedil, Business Development Director, Oxford College of Education Limited; and Dr. Abdullah Al Faruque, Adviser and Country Representative in Bangladesh, Oxford College of Education Limited.
Under the partnership, OCE will provide access to a range of 100% online and self-learning educational and professional development programmes, including online English-language courses, skills development and professional development courses, and the European Doctorate Programme. Additional programmes and initiatives may also be introduced by mutual agreement between the two institutions.
The partnership is designed to complement students' existing university education by providing opportunities to develop practical, professional and transferable skills that can support their future careers and further study. Depending on the programme, students may have access to interactive learning materials, online assessments, practice papers, mock tests, guidance, academic support and course completion certificates where applicable.
Dedicated Academic Support for Jagannath University Students
As part of the collaboration, Oxford College of Education Group will provide academic services, guidance and support to participating Jagannath University students. OCE will also provide live support to students to assist them throughout their learning journey.
As student participation grows, the partnership includes provision for enhanced dedicated support. Oxford College of Education will establish an allocated support team for Jagannath University, providing assistance in both English and Bangla to ensure students can access appropriate guidance and support more effectively.
Oxford College of Education also maintains a local office presence in Bangladesh, supporting its activities and engagement with students and educational institutions in the country. Dr. Abdullah Al Faruqi serves as OCE's Adviser and Country Representative in Bangladesh, helping to strengthen communication, coordination and local support for the partnership.
The collaboration will also provide opportunities for eligible Jagannath University teachers and students to receive special discounts on selected OCE skills development programmes, subject to the relevant programme terms, conditions and eligibility requirements.
Participation in the programmes will be voluntary, and students will be required to meet the relevant eligibility criteria and programme requirements.
A Partnership Focused on Students' Future
The three-year MoU represents a commitment by both institutions to work together to expand access to international education, professional development and skills-based learning opportunities.
The partnership is particularly focused on helping students develop the knowledge, English-language ability, practical skills and professional confidence needed to pursue further education, employment and future career opportunities in an increasingly global and digitally connected world.
Both Jagannath University and Oxford College of Education expressed their shared commitment to supporting students and creating meaningful opportunities for their academic and professional development.
The two institutions believe that by working together, they can provide stronger support and greater opportunities to help students build a successful and better future.
